Oak Wood School A Level Results 2020

In this most challenging of circumstances, we would like to congratulate so many of our students who have been awarded with grades that have enabled them to continue their education at a number of top universities across the country in a range of courses. All the staff at Oak Wood School are proud of our students' tenacity and resilience through these unprecedented times.

We are delighted to celebrate their success even if it is remotely and we hope that we will one day have the opportunity to give them all the celebration they truly deserve.

Some of our students received the highest possible grades:

  • Zain - Maths A, Chemistry A, Biology A

  • Tom – English Literature A, Film Studies A, Photography A*

  • Jude - Maths A*, Further Maths A, Physics B

  • Subasiny – Biology Bl, Chemistry B, Maths B

  • Goncalo - Extended Diploma in Creative Media D*D*D*

Over 25% of our pupils this year are attending Russell group Universities including places at Exeter, Southampton, Leeds. Manchester and Queen Mary University of London.

It is clear that the standardisation process has sadly impacted on some individuals. Over the past few days we have seen and spoken to students who were not able to prove what they are capable of by sitting examinations and are now faced with even more uncertainty surrounding the details of the appeals process. As a school we have been frustrated by movement in the grades and not being able to support the students in making difficult decisions for their future as we await the outcomes of last-minute changes to the process.

At the start of September we look forward to welcoming back all of our students, including our new Year 7 and 12 students, having worked hard to ensure that all of the safety measures are in place for their safe return. We are excited to see our students back in the classroom and support them to also progress in their learning and personal development.

We wish all our outgoing students well in the next stages of their education and careers - they have made us proud!
