Department Overview

The aim of the Music department is to provide each student, whatever their previous musical experience, the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills of music through performing, composing and listening.

Key Stage 3

In KS3 students develop their understanding of musical structures, styles, genres and traditions. They play and perform as a solo or in groups, as well as use music technology to appreciate and understand a wide range of musical contexts and styles. A programme of extra-curricular activities is introduced since Music was implemented as a Year 7 and Year 8 school subject in September 2017. Guitar lessons are provided by peripatetic staff who visits each week, with the prospect of other instrumental lessons outside the timetable curriculum.
