Oak Wood Sixth Formers secure places at notable universities

Oak Wood Sixth Form is celebrating successes in today’s A Level and BTEC results, marking yet another year of academic and personal achievements for students at the school.

Students have secured places at a number of distinguished universities, including Bristol, Royal Holloway, Hertfordshire, Middlesex and Brunel, and are embarking on prosperous career paths.

New Interim Head of School, Gilly Hare, commented: “Students’ results just show what hard work can achieve. With the dedication and guidance of their teachers, our Sixth Formers are now looking forward to bright futures.”

There have been many individual successes across the 2019 cohort, most notably:

Usama Bin Urfan has ambitious plans after achieving an outstanding grade A in Maths and Physics, and Grade B in Chemistry and Further Maths. Following his undergraduate degree in Theoretical Physics he hopes to complete a Masters degree in Electronic Engineering. Usama dreams of working in scientific research and robotics in the future and wishes to join NASA one day.

He comments: “The teaching, facilities and resources at Oak Wood are second to none. The Sixth Form is small which means students receive personalised support and guidance throughout their time here. I am particularly grateful for the extra maths tuition I received when undertaking my Further Maths course by myself.”

Our Level 3 Media students gained Distinction* across the board, including triple Distinction* for Matthew Bryant, Louis Burrows, Sharyar Hassan and Tyler Irven.

Ross Curley, Head of Sixth Form responded: “I would like to congratulate this brilliant group of students on their achievements. We are all extremely proud of their success, not just these exam results but also with their commitment to taking on extra responsibilities that have helped secure a variety of outstanding outcomes, ranging from university to those starting their careers.”
